The Push by Ashley Audrain: February Bookclub Pick

Kicking off 2021 with a Virtual Bookclub Pick!

We selected our first bookclub book of the year as The Push by Ashley Audrain and are excited to "meet" virtually in February. This book has been described as a "tense, page-turning drama about the making and breaking of a family - and a woman whose experience of motherhood is nothing at all like what she hoped for, and everything she feared".

Good Morning America selected this title as a GMA Book Club Pick and we know why - at a third of the way into the book, it's tough to put down! With a bit of pulse-quickening time hopping from current events to past memories, the main character is painfully self-aware and while clearly daring to dream all the happy endings for herself, she begins to see unravelings and speaks them aloud to the reader.

It's difficult to appropriately tease this book without giving too much of it away; however, suffice it to say that even when you think you can see what's coming next, you'll still be hanging on for dear life! For this reader, the joy of being able to predict the outcomes is easily replaced with the thrill of the unfolding in this psychological drama.

The bookcover's back is filled with accolades from authors of Then She Was Gone (Lisa Jewell), The Memory Keeper's Daughter (Kim Edwards), The Perfect Mother (Aimee Molloy), and more...And all agree with words such as "propulsive", "gripping", "entertaining", and "provocative"!

Can't wait until we meet for this discussion!! Look for links to discuss beginning February 1st!
